We are trying to set up an LDAP authentication strategy for Splunk. We have all the set up completed and everything seems to have been extracted just fine. I'm able to go all the way to the LDAP groups page and see all the groups that I expect. However, when I try to assign Splunk roles to these groups, it never works.
In particular, when I save roles to a group, the front end returns within a couple seconds and says "Successfully updated Group A." The roles for Group A are still blank though.
I looked at the splunkd.log file and found the following error message:

Does anyone have any insight into this issue?
